A few weeks ago I discovered ‘The Mac Factory’ on Hutt Street. Situated above the Post Office this is a delightful café specialising in Macarons.
The café is cute and inviting, with a very well stocked cookery book shop attached, named ‘The Book Nook’.
The display of Macarons was impressive, and all looked tempting and with over a dozen flavours it was difficult to choose just one! I eventually chose a “Chocolate Orange” flavour (I just love the pairing of chocolate and orange), and my friend chose the “Turkish Delight” flavour despite it being bright pink.
These were delicious, crisp on the outside, gooey on the inside, and weren’t too sweet which has been a problem in other places. I could have eaten a lot more than one.
To accompany the Macarons ‘The Mac Factory’ has an impressive range of fresh juices, as well as the usual hot drink selection. They also do breakfast on weekends, which I will be trying out in the future.
Top Tip: If ordering a fresh juice, go for a medium size. It doesn’t cost much more, but it’s much better value for money than the small size.
The Mac Factory has its own website, as well as a Facebook page so check them out.
